Corps Band
Well, today is Tueaday... Tuesdays are very very long days at the Hempstead corps..This morning started kinda rough for me...I set 4 alarms the night before to make sure that I would wake up and sure enough I either hit them all while I was asleep or they didn't go off. So I started the day off on "the wrong side of the bed." Afterschool I had a PSAT Class till 5. Then as soon as I walked home, I had to leave to go to the corps...I then taught Drama, THeory, gave an instrumental lesson, played in Junior Band, sung in the songsters, then the youth chorus and last but not least the senior band..now by the time band rolls along, I'm dead! And all through the rehearsal all I can think of is how much school work I have to do when I get home...haha now this sounds really bad like I'm complaining and well I shouldn't because after all its done right before my head hits the pillow (literally right before because as soon as it does, I'm out like a light!) I am blessed and gratful for the opportunity I have at the Hempstead corps...So during band we got the rest of our hallelujah choruses because well we had copying problems anyway we turned to "In Christ Alone." Silly me I thought that it was the cool upbeat one that Roofus sings then I looked at the top of the piece of music and it said thoughtfully 69 bpm...haha..I kinda laughed at myself...ANyway as were playing this piece we got to the final verse and its a key change and its at forte and man oh man it was amazing.. I could feel God in that chapel with us...so I took my copy home and decided to read the words to this song...what a GREAT TUNE! I think it's my new favorite ;) anway here are the words.. THEY ARE SO POWERFUL and Meaningful...
1. In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease.
My comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
2. In Christ alone, who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
'Til on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied.
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.
3. There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slainl
Then, bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as he stands in vicotry,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine,
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
4. No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
can ever pluck me from His hand;
'Til he returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand!!
Ah I love it! :)
