Kettle Season
Well it's kettle season and I haven't had a chance to really breathe. Between corps activities and kettles and everything. So each band member in our corps band was asked to do 8 volunteer hours in a small group on Saturdays at a kettle. So i did 4 hours one Saturday and 4 the next so that way I could be done with it and finish my shopping on the next Saturday. Well a day before Saturday I got an "IM" from one of the band members asking if I could do two hours for her because something came up. I immediately said yes because I'm the type of person who can't say no. But I will admit I wasn't too happy. So I was sitting playing the Christmas Carols over and over in the middle of the crowded mall wishing I wasn't there and that time could go by faster! Well after about one hour this women came over to the kettle and said thank you she started talking to us and said something like this. "God Bless the Salvation Army, I don't know what this world and I would do without it. I was in Florida when a few Tornadoes hit where I was living. If it wasn't for The Salvation Army being there throughout it all it would be a wreck." So yeah what she said was nice and wasn't exactly heart wrenching but it actually brought a tear to my eye and made me think about the Army and really changed my attitude towards what I was doing. God definitely planned that and I'm thankful for it.
Well I'm off to Florida on Tuesday with my whole family. I'm happy to just have a break from everything and everyone. So I will be posting MAD (the kids from the corps are rubbing off on me! for those of you who don't know mad means allot! lol) pictures when we get down there because we have wireless internet in our condo! WOo hoo
HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS!!!!!
